Working around the clock in the evolving world of innovative media, M.R. Chalermchatri Yukol shares his great experiences and ideas of what makes a good filmmaker and creator of media.
Inheriting a passion for films from his father, M.R. Chalermchatri Yukol (Khun Chai Adam) is a talented young man with a Bachelor of Film and TV Production from Bond University, Australia. The institution was recommended by a prominent film director - Baz Luhrmann who is Prince Chatrichalerm’s good friend. Khun Chai Adam has established himself in the film industry, and as the CEO of “FukDuk Production” offering online and new media production. During a conversation with him, he shared ideas for those wishing to move forward in this path.
Fieldwork experience :When Khun Chai Adam undertook his bachelor course, he realised that “Fieldwork is more important than just passing a test as it allows you to understand working processes and gain the skills needed in the real workplace”. For example, for his Music Video project, Khun Chai Adam approached the singer himself. He also searched for sponsors for his short film instead of using his own budget. “Students establish themselves in the business via connections they make during fieldwork” he added. Dr Bruce Molloy, Professor of Film and Television (Bond University) confirmed that a comprehensive range of experiences across the range of industry activities becomes increasingly important in order for a person to compete in this high profile industry.
Importance is making progress : “Outcomes are not as important as making progress. The ability to make progress enables you to stay in the industry longer” Khun Chai Adam said.
Live the good attitude : A good attitude and new thinking concepts is what this industry needs, according to Khun Chai Adam who also advised to “take chances” as opportunities might not come around a second time.
Many routes to capture success :The Australian teaching approach appreciates and encourages different ways to accomplish results; Khun Chai Adam said that his teachers provided guidance without setting steps for students to follow. Associate Professor Markus Fischmann from Digital Animation, University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) also stressed this point: “there are always dozens of different ways to achieve a good result in creative areas like Animation”. UTS’s Master of Animation offers digital design, animation, programming and production and is a cross-disciplinary program, facilitating and encouraging creativity.
If you wish to study in this field, Khun Chai Adam encouraged you to
“believe in yourself and be patient when challenged by obstacles. Difficulties often help you achieve your ultimate goal”.
